From Julia’s Place: What is 100WCGU?
Each week there is a prompt: a few connected words, a selection of individual words or a picture. You have a limited number of words to write a creative piece.
This week’s prompt is: (see this week’s prompt site by clicking here)
…. the line was drawn ….
The words in the prompt must not be split and should be suitable for a PG certificate, made up of 100 words (or less) added to these 4 words for a total of 104 words..
This is my entry…
Cross the Line or Else
The line was drawn but the other kid still yelled,
Hey, finish it.
Finish what?
The other line.
The other line?
Yeah.
You want me to draw another line?
Yeah, and cross it.
Hey, I’m the one drawing the line.
So? You still have to cross it.
You cross it.
That’s not how it works.
Oh yeah?
Yeah.
I don’t like the way you’re talking to me.
Cross the line or else.
Or else what?
You’ll see.
And when all the lines were crossed,
And the last square had an “o” drawn in,
The kid hollered, See?
Tic Tac Toe. I win!

Sounds like a kid’s conversation overheard. I like the humor.

Glad you make you laugh. I love to laugh and have fun.
Ah, I was thinking it was noughts and crosses 🙂 Really great interpretation of the prompt; your dialogue was powerful and I could imagine the scene vividly.
Thank you.
I like the tension that built and the surprise ending because it could have gotten truly ugly. 🙂
I’ve had a few ugly Tic Tac Toe episodes myself. Thanks xx’s and ooo’s
LOL! Sounds like kids urban rap. Wazzup! You dig, bro?
That’s coming up on Friday with my new spin on Friday Fictioneers – stay tuned.

Very clever!

I think I’ve heard this before too, and I laughed at both.
Well played, fellow writer!

As in it was an unexpected twist that stumped me for a second. To that, I tip my hat to you
No the end I expected. 🙂
