Rise and shine. A new day. A new promise…
The Sunday Whirl blog invites writers to write a poem or short prose using some or all of the “wordle’s” 12 word.
One Resurrection Day
This is a funny day
To be caught sleeping. Rise.
The moon is peeking at the peaking sun.
Silvery petals pedal their way
Along stone paths, no longer lost.
Experienced staff will host today,
Reviewing all the wisely written orders
About how this one should proceed.
They then unlock the locks,
Fling open doors,
And the day’s first customers arrive.
The staff will sit in the pit,
Taking all the calls and questions,
Which come in waves of rush orders,
Or times when it’s so quiet that time drags,
And then the all-at-once-way-too-many-to-handle calls begin,
Which makes you want to tear your hair out and quit.
But by 5:00 PM, at closing time,
After all the fragrances of the day wear off,
And the staff go home to renew, shower and powder –
This one funny day, now washed away, is gone, forever.

Have you been channeling telemarketers?
I really like how you’ve explored the double meanings of words.
wanna buy a day? Don’t we all just want one more – and one more – and one more?
🙂
;o
Yes, I’ll take one more day, thank you. Perhaps several hundred thousand, if you can spare them!

I always feel sorry for the staff at church on special holidays. They never get to truly worship.
Service is a form of devotion, I think.
Or maybe I just wrote about hosting a party for some Mary_____ products on a special Sunday. Whaddya think?
hmmm possibly. 😉
