Take the Train to Change Street: Sunday Whirl “wordle”

Ask not which train will come for you,
ask only which stop it is
upon which you will depart….

The Sunday Whirl blog invites writers to write a poem or short prose using some or all of the “wordle’s” 12 word.

This week’s words are:

Take the Train to Change Street

Take the train
To Change Street:

Places like this are not for the faint of heart.
Depots like these are for those who want to master death:
Where passengers depart with their

Tickets punched through with words
Like this is how you die. Words
That will not share the seat with the person next to you.

Words which will not stretch. Words
That end. Words which do not create any
Hope or promise of a spring. Words

That walk a silent march;
That listen to a train’s wheels hissing steam, spinning
On gritty tracks, where the Conductor cries,

“Change Street Station. Last call.”

Which are the first heard words for the next unsuspecting
Band of travelers going somewhere, and then:

“All Aboard.”
