Do you have a fire burning within you?
The Sunday Whirl blog invites writers to write a poem or short prose using some or all of the “wordle’s” 12 word.
This week’s words are:
The Fire Burning
Too much.
Way too much.
She calls it, tumult.
Too much tumult, she says.
But she is old school.
Old school.
She says I am giddy.
Giddy?
There is a fire burning within me.
A fire burning.
Leaving me
Angry. Bitter. Resentful.
I am awake at night,
My eyes wide open.
Pink acrid fumes
Swirl around my face.
Fumes
Which I inhale in
Small tight streams
Through my pursed lips
And nostrils.
It becomes clear.
Everything is clear.
Not tumult.
Clarity.
Not tumult.
Giddy?
Step within me.
Venture inside of me.
See me.
Listen. Listen.
Breathe. Breathe.
Practice.
Practice.
All calm now.

I felt the heat in that fire – repetition works really well.

wait you said repetition. not duplication… 😉
I fell right into the rhythm of the self-talk “conversation.” The voices were nicely constructed. Well wordled.
Dear Nan,
Thank you. I really try for rhythm – reading the words aloud to myself numerous times over to hear what I’m writing.

Breathe breathe – great way to find calmness!
Relax, release, and renew.
Randy
love the rhythm of this, the way it pulled me along…
I watch for rhythm in my work. Glad you liked it, noticed it and commented. Thanks.

Nicely crafted!
thank you. I think of poems as crafting, like wood carving…. sometimes like dental work 😉
