Sometimes what we see, is what we is…
Each week Rochelle Wisoff-Fields posts a pic to write a 100 word story about.
This week it’s a flash fiction perspective:
A Fitting Perspective
“This perspective is interesting.”
“It sure is. I like the way the canoe draws the eye to the water. But shouldn’t it be in the water?”
“Nah.”
“Why is that?”
“Well, just look at the canoe.”
“Beautiful wood. I love it.”
“But there’s a seam down the middle.”
“So? You think it’ll leak.”
“If that was the only problem, we’d be okay.”
“Then what?”
“Look closely. There are fitted seams like that throughout everything.”
“Wow. You’re right. Then this means that we’re in…”
“Yup, we’re part of a huge jigsaw puzzle.”
“Holy shi…”
(“Life is like a huge jigsaw puzzle” – Flora Gump)

Hopefully all the pieces belong to the same jigsaw; sometimes I wonder. Nice one.
me, too!
Dear Randy,
Flora Gump? Love it. I have trouble with jigsaw puzzles. That might explain a lot. Good one.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Yup, Flora Gump. Forrest’s great grandmother, and sister to Fern, and great aunt of Fauna.
Very clever!
Oh, you wrote clever.
For a moment I thought you wrote cleaver.
Not sure why I thought cleaver.
Better clever than cleaver – although the Beave thought it better that it be Cleaver than clever.
Ha.
Like it.. but as a long as the pieces fit together we should be able to cope shouldn’t we?
You’re lucky if your pieces fit together – because I’m still trying to put mine together.
In fact, I’m sure I’m missing a few.
Randy
It seems obvious now that you’ve said it. I like your keen observation and your prose.
Why thank you – that’s usually the first thing I do: observe.
But I have seen some FF writers be so keen with their observations that they make “Where’s Waldo” look like a walk in the park.
Randy
I’m glad your character liked the perspective. it was actually made of rusting iron, so definitely best kept out of the water, but I enjoyed your explanation too!
Really? I can’t tell the difference between rusting iron and a beautiful piece of wood? Huh!
No wonder why I think my brain looks as good as it does.
Good one, Randy. I enjoyed it a lot.
janet
good.
Fortunately, you can start putting the puzzle together with just a few pieces, and fill in what’s missing later.
yes, that’s true – though some of my pieces are still missing.
Randy
I needed a smile so I came here.
You did not disappoint.
Thank you.
Good. I love humor, smiling and as my byline for comments states, “Have some fun…’
Have some fun? It’s too much pressure to be in the comments box 😦
now that’s funny….
Is it because the box is too small? I could make it bigger….
I like where you went with this. And I agree – life is a big jigsaw, with missing bits just to confuse us.
I’m sorry. What are you saying? I seem to be missing something…. 😉
That was fun – I like the idea of being part of a big jigsaw.
Then that makes you a brave and perceptive soul who prefers a pizza pie to a whole potato, dashes to straight lines, and pastina to linguini.

That was great fun! Flora Gump indeed…. 😀
indeed and in person!
Unique take on the prompt! I guess I’m part of the puzzle too ! Nicely done.
Now that’s puzzling – so to speak. 😉
Love the ending
Holy shi… you really do?
Clever story! Maybe we’re all part of some cosmic jigsaw puzzle…
Robert Redford in his new movie “A Walk in the Woods” says that there are more galaxies in the universe than there are grains of sand on the earth.
I hardly think we’d even qualify as a puzzle piece.
just a thought or not… Randy
What life is all about: a self-help book by Flora, Fern and Fauna Gump. LOL, what a great story.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Bubba:
Have you ever been on a shrimp boat?
Forrest Gump:
No, but I’ve been on a real big boat.
Hope there are no pieces missing Randy… loved your take on the photo.
Bubba:
My given name is Benjamin Buford Blue, but people call me Bubba. Just like one of them ol’ redneck boys. Can you believe that?
Forrest Gump:
My name’s Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump.
Glad you enjoyed my take – but be careful because you might have gotten took.
Randy
What a cool concept! I’ve never successfully put a jigsaw puzzle together so I guess I’ll have to go in your boat. Holy shi…!
Those Gump women must have been famous for their wise sayings. I think I’ll stay out of that canoe, thank you very much. Well done, Randy. Good dialogue. 🙂 — Suzanne
