Never underestimate the power of memory or possible delusions…
Each week Rochelle Wisoff-Fields posts a pic to write a 100 word story about.
This week it’s, it’s, it’s a mess.
Is This Really Where We Got Our Kicks?
I don’t get that “unthink” sign. It reads UNTHINK, but the “U” is upside down. The “N” is backwards. I looked at the other side and then “UN” is correct, but “THINK” is upside down. What does it mean? I don’t have time to think about it. Ha.
Think. I can’t be late. Am I? The other signs clearly read Route 66 and BEGIN. But what a mess.
And these other signs: park, no parking, alternate parking? Where’s the Vette parked?
A hand presses on my shoulder. “George, Are you okay?”
“Marty. You’re here. You’re the only thing that makes any sense today.”
Randy Mazie
I guess he just had TMI.
janet
Honestly, I don’t know what he had. I had a 100.4 fever when I wrote it and suffering from lingering, ouch, prostatitis – which I know, for you, is TMI.
I loved this! 🙂
Why, thanks…. that was kind for a weird piece. I appreciate it. Randy
Fun weirdness. I saw George and Marty and immediately thought Hello, McFly. But then the Vette would have been a DeLorean. Martin Milner was my fave on Adam-12.
Marty was great, but I had a special fondness at that time for Maharis. Thanks fr commenting. Randy
Hope you feel better soon but while ypur down..churn out a couple more of these. 😉
Thanks,Dawn. I’m home anyways, so I am working on a lot of different things. Thanks for the well wishes. Randy
Alas I have never seen that show, but the voice is still perfect.. Love how you try to make sense on that banner…
Some things just can’t be made sense of. Along with “UNTHINK” would go “UNSENSE”. But then again, maybe that would just be nonsense. 😉 Randy
Well done – fever and all. While not quite as far afield as Bjorn, Route 66 wasn’t broadcast to my little one TV station town. 🙂
Too bad. You missed a great series. Thanks for commenting. Randy
That’s what I thought when I first saw the picture. You can imagine car accidents while drivers are trying to make sense of it and not watching the road!
Drivers watch the road? Are you kidding me?
Thanks for commenting. Enjoyed your story a lot this week. Randy
Dear Randy,
I got a kick out of your story. Those were the days.
Aloha,
Doug
Nothing like a kick on Route 66. Thanks for your comment, Doug.
Randy
Dear Randy,
So what you’re saying is that this is all a febrile dream? Well done. Hope you’re feeling better.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Febrile, shmebrile. I thought only animals were febrile. Maybe that was feral.
Who cares – i have to take my temperature again.
😉 Randy
Oral or…?
you know me – I like both ways…. 😉
I feel his confusion, and his relief. Fever or no fever, city signage can give anyone a headspin. A fun story.
Now that’s a comment I can agree with. Signage in cities, or anywhere for that matte,r is ridiculous. And only serves to confuse, aggravate , and cause more accidents, family squabbles, and divorces than anything else in this country – other than maybe politics.
Randy
And you may quote me on that.
This is some jumbled -up fun.
Mmble garuple fun. Teekle berry mooch.
Jumble Nardy
Great dissection of the picture. Thanks for the pic of M & G – I hadn’t heard of them or their show.
Thanks. Randy
Nice homage for a show that, of course, I don’t remember. Why, I don’t even remember Adam-12! Fun, Randy, and thanks!
yeh, right!
I thought about putting the UNTHINK thing in my post. You made it so much more interesting!
I’ll have to unthink about that….
in the meanwhile thanks for reading and stopping by.
Randy
Hope you’re feeling better by now, Randy. I remember that show and enjoyed it. Good writing. Well done even though you were sick. 🙂 — Suzanne
Thank you. Kind of you to write that. Randy
I “faintly” remember that show. Was it about the same time (in date) as “Father Knows Best” or “Leave it to Beaver?” Or “Lassie”, Or “Roy Rogers and Dale Evans,”or, “Bonanza” or…. or does this make me a whole lot older than you? 😀
Not at all. I watched them. Happy trails to you… Randy
… until we meet again! 🙂
