kbnelson’s Reason 2 Rhyme Poetry Prompt – “Trinkets” August 13, 2012.
Write a poem about (or to!) an inanimate object that has little or no monetary value.
The Trifle on My Wall
The ink is worth more than the paper
which since spent has no value at all.
The paper’s worth less than the tree
Which now milled has given its all.
But the words that appear on the paper,
By the poet who scribbled them all,
And emptied himself on the paper,
Is pricelessly taped to my wall.
