Each week Friday Fictioneers – Madison Woods posts a pic that begs to have a 100 word story written about it. Visit Madison Woods’ site if you’d like to see and/or learn more.

I couldn’t resist this second turn on the tap…

This is this week’s picture prompt.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentices

“Little creatures were whirlin’ around that tap.”
“Did you drink from it?’
“No way.”
“What kind a creatures?”

“Dunno. They was walkin’ mops.”
“Mops?”
“Carryin’ buckets.”
“Buckets?”

“They was a-dancin’ and a-cleanin’.”
“A-cleanin’?”

“Old-style music was a-playin’.”
“Huh?”
“Sounded like horns. Mama might have said French. Real lively-like.”
“Golly.”
“Then Joe swats at ‘em. They upturns their buckets and douses Joe with water.”
“Well, I’ll be…”
“The next thin’, I hear them singin’ ‘when you wish upon a star…’ and there’s fireworks and a magic castle, and some little mouse with funny ears is a-wavin’ at us….”

  1. One of the funniest – no, the funniest – Friday Fictioneers pieces I’ve read yet! I love how you slowly reveal the situation, and the narrator’s vivid uncomprehending descriptions.

Have some fun...
