Comfort for God’s People

This piece is inspired by Isaiah, Chapter 40.
Interestingly, Isaiah comes from the wealthy,
a royal family member who preaches fairness,
compassion and hope.
Who today, among the 1%, would stand with him?

Where is the Shepherd?

Where is the shepherd nursing the flock,
Gathering lambs up into his arms?
Swaddling the newborn close to his heart and
Comforted ewe with his psalms.

Where is the one who carries the waters
Cupped in the hollows of his hands?
The one whose breath drew open the heavens, and
Sculpted mountains from arid lands?

Where is the one who understands
The needs of man and mind of God?
And weighs the gaud for what it is, and
Tends the ways of wards of poor.
