Here is a good Sunday’s reading…
For those of you who missed “Bread Upon the Waters…”
Please click here to read.
In keeping with the same spirit of using a Bible passage as an exercise in motivation to write poetry, I’ve posted a few haiku’s using Isaiah 10: 1 – 3 as my source:
Isaiah 10: 1 – 3
“Woe to those who make unjust laws,
to those who issue oppressive decrees,
to deprive the poor of their rights
and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people,
making widows their prey
and robbing the fatherless.
What will you do on the day of reckoning,
when disaster comes from afar?
To whom will you run for help?
Where will you leave your riches?
Haiku’s
Tyrants of the world,
the spoils taken, shall twice be
taken back from you
***********************************************
Sinner-ruler-man
run, run now before your end,
reaper-man’s coming
************************************************
Base clouds shadow-rule,
defiling righteous crypts, soon,
soon the just will rise
************************************************
Strike back hard, my Lord,
Brand the ruler-thieves of man,
So the children know
************************************************
Plunder this day, rape
widows and orphans alike,
shame, God whispers, shame
************************************************
Politicians’ wills
defile children and widows,
vengeance-wrath awaits

I love this. That is exactly why I vote the way I do. I love your haikus and thoughts behind them.

Becca
Thanks, Becca.
