What are your trees? Where are they?
Read these two shorts poems; share yours
The Telephone Pole, formerly known as The Tree
Bridled in strung lines,
Carrying messages, intimate or otherwise,
Reduced to vertical; stripped of all alacrity
The Tree, formerly known as The Forest Kings
Forest Kings
Of Ancient Woodlands,
Redwood, Pine, Cypress, Oak.
Once stately robed in
Lichen, Moss, and Vine
Now felled from Highest Grace,
Splintered and assigned,
Displaced, under edificial flowers
and highway beds,
Their regal knees
ground out from under them
